Meet the Chaplain

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope”. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Hello, my name is Ana. As a Lay Chaplain at The Catholic High School and Sixth Form, I’m thrilled and honoured to be a witness of God’s presence amongst us. My aim is to spiritually guide you following Jesus’ footsteps, echoing our ethos and values founded in the gospel and helping you to live your life to the full.

My role in the school is to give spiritual support to students and staff as well as engaging young people in prayer, worship and the sacramental life of the Church, particularly in the Eucharist and the sacrament of reconciliation, nurturing each person with love and dignity. We welcome students from every faith and none, as this is an inclusive school. Regardless where you are in your spiritual journey, I’m here to give you support and encourage you to explore your faith.

Every year, students at The Catholic High school have countless opportunities to be spiritually nourished, and this is sustained throughout Sixth Form. Our collective worships, assemblies and Masses are essential for their Christian development, and we make sure everyone has the chance to organise and be part of these activities. Our Firefly platform has a chaplaincy section where students can have access to daily prayers and reflections, Christian articles and news, music, videos, meditations and more! The built-in messaging service means that you can contact me whenever you need it.

Our students’ spirituality also reaches our wider community, Diocese and even oversees. A group of our Sixth-Form students join every year the Diocese of Shrewsbury in pilgrimage to Lourdes. This is a unique opportunity given to them, where they can experience so much gratification. We work together with the Shrewsbury Youth Mission Team to provide amazing programmes for you, such as ‘Faith in Action Award’. Our students support many charities and foodbanks as part of our approach to help those in need.

It is a privilege for me to be part of our young people’s spiritual journey and development. I am looking forward to welcoming you at The Catholic High School, Sixth Form family.
